2012: A Retrospective

So there we go.  That's my "finished" output of 2012, including a couple pieces that I haven't posted before (either because they were personal or were for a project that hasn't released).
I am strangely ambivalent about these.  35 pieces over a year, a bunch of them just doodles.  Some with HOURS AND HOURS logged.  35 pieces.  Just under 3 a month, then.  I think I can do better.
Like many a hobbyist, my finishing details are getting a lot better.  But the fundamentals are still really weak; back to work!

As comedy, here's the partial of the projects I spent a lot of time on this last year and still haven't finished:
As stated:  back to work!

Monster Women: #3

Monster Women Magazine presents Lily Munster, styled for a night at the beach.

Yeah, these are still ongoing.  Only seven more to go. *gulp*

Day late, dollar short, etc.

So this was supposed to be a quick sketch to post before Halloween.  Yeah, that failed.
But here it is anyway.  Thanks to Jen for suggesting one of the doofiest (it's a word because I say it is) movie creatures from our collective memories of the 80's.

Fallout-style Japanese robot

Early concept piece for this crazy idea i had.  I have some ideas for the body style, but wanted to get something down now.  This is based on a wacked-out diecast toy from the 50's.  Symbol on the head is the Mon of the Shogun, symbol on chest is the Mon of the particular warlord(actually, it's a current logo for a japanese prefecture.)  This'll have a huge torso and arms for intimidation factor, built on a hover chassis.
I am such a nerd.

Full Nerd

So i got the request to do a "severe businesswoman" drawing for game night.  Game was cancelled, so i drew instead.  The other one is of this character our crew ran into, Oni-chan.  Oni-chan is not long for our game world, he just doesn't realize it yet.  But i wanted to see if i could translate oni-style facial deformations onto something more realistic.  Meh.

Monster Women: #2

Monster Women Magazine presents the lovely Weena, from the George Pal film The Time Machine, released in 1960.  Weena's one of the Eloi, the light-on-smarts but lovely successors to humanity.  ArtRage, minimal Photoshop, drawn on two different tablets.  I've figured out a bit regarding the software, which is most helpful.  Use of color remains...problematic.
As a side note, now I really want to make a plush morlock.  Dammit.
